Welsh Region
Granted Divisional Status
Following a unanimous decision taken at the 2007 Welsh Regional
AGM, a proposal was put forward to Club Council at the January
meeting to form the Welsh division. The proposal was made by Mr. N. Haynes
Nominated Member on behalf of the Welsh Region. The proposal was
seconded by Mrs. F. Murray Chairman of the Scottish Division.
The Club Chairman put the proposal to the Council, which
unanimously decided to form the Welsh Division of The Caravan Club,
subject to the approval, by the Executive Committee, of a Constitution.
The Chairman of the Welsh Region was informed by the Executive
Secretary that the formation of the Welsh Division in accordance with
Bye-Law 6b was approved by the Executive Committee with effect from 28th
January 2008.
'Meet the Club' Forum at Welsh CC Sites.
The Region held a "Meet the Club" forum on the
Tredegar House CC Site (June 2006) and one at Lady Margaret's Park CC Site
(April 2007). Members who
were staying on the site were invited to join the Regional Council to
discuss the services provided by The Club.
The Welsh Region hope to run a similar event in 2008, details to follow.
Aberbran Celebrates 40 Years Of Operation.
2007 being the Clubs Centenary year has been one long year of
celebrations. On Saturday 18th of August the Aberbran Caravan
Club Site celebrated 40 years of operation. Invited guests included the
Club Vice-Chairman Grenville Chamberlain, Executive Member Prof. Cedric
Milner and Regional Manager Gavin Pritchard, members of the local
community and all on site were also invited to help celebrate this event.
Much has been done since volunteers took over the running of the site, the
dog walk has been extended condemned trees removed and an area of woodland
cleared of brambles and debris. A path through the trees now goes to the
site of the old station gate. To mark this achievement the Aberbran Site
Volunteer Co-ordinater Glyn Evans presented the Club Vice-Chairman with a
plaque, which will be displayed in the area. The Welsh Regional Chairman
Martin Cawley then presented Glyn Evans with a framed railway ticket from
“Brecon to the Aberbran” station; this will be on display in the site
office. Mrs. Moorcroft (a past warden at Aberbran) and Grenville then cut
the celebration cake.
Glyn Evans then invited Mr. Jones (one of the oldest members of the local
community) to help Grenville and Gavin to plant a tree, to replace those
that had been removed earlier in the year. The celebrations continued into
the evening with a hog roast and wine.
